The emphasis of all Andrena fine furniture is on hand made quality. Generations of craftsmanship and experience are required during the selection of the timber in order to bring out the very best of the beautiful grain of the oak tree.

At Andrena we use American white oak which is sustainable and comes from well managed forests in the Northern Appalachian region. All drawers and doors are individually fitted to each carcass for a perfect fit. Each drawer benefits from the traditional, and still best, method of dovetail jointing providing maximum strength and stability to create strong and sturdy furniture that will last a lifetime and beyond.

American White Oak has a beautiful wide and interesting grain pattern which adds to the individual character of the furniture. With a good consistency of colour, this timber is particularly well suited to the popular lighter finishes.

All of the models in the Canterbury collection are available in any of our standard finishes and five handle choices. There are currently three ranges of fabrics available for the Canterbury collection - Gatsby, Koko and Buffalo. Each of these fabric ranges have several colour options providing you with a comprehensive palette from which you can choose the perfect match for your home. We also offer a customer¹s own fabric option if required.

Andrena is a family owned and managed company which was established in 1973 by Ken and Marina Anderson. Ken still plays an active part in the running of the business as Chairman of the
company and their son Gary is Managing Director.

Why American White Oak?

The timber is both hard and fast growing (hence the lovely wide grain pattern). This specie takes approximately 30 years to reach maturity compared to an English Oak tree which takes about 80 years. All our wood comes from sustainable forests from a well managed source.
